What Independence Hub receives

When a WordPress administrator approves a connection, the Independence Hub Connector sends the site URL, a random site-specific connection token, and the aggregate Independent Analytics data requested by the dashboard. The token is sent over HTTPS and is not a WordPress account password.

How it is used

To identify each connection in WordPress, Hub verifies the requesting account over HTTPS and shares its account email and identifier with the connector. WordPress stores those details, the approval date, and a hash of each connection token. Each account’s access can be disconnected separately. The token is encrypted at rest and used only to request aggregate data from the connector's read-only analytics endpoints. It cannot authenticate to WordPress or access other WordPress APIs.

Growth workspace

We store the traffic rules, targets, event dates, titles, and notes you choose to save, linked to your account and connected site. These records are private to your Hub account and are used with aggregate analytics to calculate progress and comparisons when you open or refresh the workspace. For completed journal comparisons, we also retain the 14 daily aggregate page-view counts, source reporting dates, timezone, site URL, connector version, analytics fetch time and comparison save time. This keeps the comparison available beyond the connector’s rolling history. Changing the event’s site or date clears its saved comparison for recalculation; title and note edits preserve it. You can edit or delete these records in Growth. Removing the connected site or deleting your account also removes its growth records and retained comparisons. If you enable email alerts on a rule, we also check its aggregate analytics hourly in the background and send triggered alerts to your verified account email through SMTP2GO, our email delivery provider. Alert emails include the rule title, site name, reporting dates, and aggregate traffic totals. We store the last check, delivery time, and delivery status to prevent repeated alerts. Email alerts are off by default and can be disabled by editing the rule.

Your choices

You can remove a site from Independence Hub or revoke its token from the Independence Hub Connector settings in WordPress at any time. Either action prevents future analytics requests through that connection.
