Troubleshooting

Resolve connection errors, missing analytics, locked reports, and account or alert problems.

Updated

A site will not connect

  1. Confirm that the URL is your WordPress site’s full public address, including https://, and that the site loads normally.
  2. On that site, confirm that Independent Analytics and Independence Hub Connector are installed and active. Update the connector through WordPress.
  3. Use a WordPress administrator account for approval. Return to the Hub tab after installing the connector and choose Step 2: Connect this site.
  4. If approval expired or you changed accounts mid-flow, start Add site again from the intended Hub account.
  5. If a security plugin, firewall, or hosting restriction blocks the request, ask the site administrator or host to check access to the connector’s read-only WordPress REST routes. Include the error text rather than disabling protections broadly.

Traffic is empty, old, or different from WordPress

  • Compare the same date range in Independent Analytics on the site. A new installation may not yet have traffic for the whole period.
  • The current day is partial and follows the site’s timezone. Sites in different timezones can be at different points in their day.
  • Check Portfolio view groups and the chart’s domain checkboxes. An empty chart can simply mean no domains are selected.
  • Choose Refresh traffic data. Normal cached results can be up to 15 minutes old.
  • Showing the last successful snapshot means the latest request failed; the displayed numbers are older data. Check the site and connection, then refresh.
  • Analytics paused for this site indicates a plan limit. The connection is preserved; review Pricing to restore Unlimited access.

A detailed or printable report is unavailable

Detailed site reports and custom printable briefs require Unlimited. Check your current plan on Pricing. If you already have access, verify that you are using the correct Hub account and refresh the page.

For a site-specific detail error, update Independence Hub Connector on that WordPress site and open the report again. If only one breakdown is empty, check whether Independent Analytics has data for it in the selected period.

For printable reports, select at least one site and one section other than Period comparison. Allow the new tab to open, then use the browser print dialog to save a PDF.

A Growth result or email is missing

  • Waiting for data on a watchlist rule: check the minimum preceding-period traffic requirement.
  • Waiting for data in Impact journal: wait until seven complete days after the event have finished. The event day is excluded.
  • Needs attention: refresh analytics and inspect the connection. Journal comparisons also require both complete seven-day windows within the last 90 days.
  • Missing email: confirm Email alerts on, a triggered threshold, a verified account email, and the card’s background-check/delivery status. Check your spam folder.
  • No repeat email: a continuing triggered episode does not send hourly messages. Notifications are limited to one per episode and at most once every 24 hours.
  • A target’s progress fell: rolling windows drop older traffic as new days arrive; they are not cumulative lifetime totals.

You cannot sign in

Verify that you are using your Hub credentials, not your WordPress password. Use Forgot password if needed. Verification and reset links expire after one hour; reset links can only be used once.

If you see a too-many-attempts message, wait for the time indicated before trying again. For a missing email, confirm the address and check spam or junk folders.

Send a useful support request

Choose Feedback in the app. Include the affected site URL, the workspace you were using, your selected reporting range, the exact error message, and the steps that led to it.

A screenshot can help; hide any private account information first. Do not include passwords, account cookies, connection tokens, or email verification/reset links.
